1/2=50%, which means,1/2*100=50% that is if a 100 is divided into 2 parts we get 50% each.

1/3=33.33%

1/4=25%

1/5=20%

1/6=16.66%

1/7=14.28%

1/8=12.5%

1/9=11.11%

1/10=10%

1/11=9.09%

1/12=8.33%

1/13=7.71%

1/14=7.14%

1/15=6.67%

1/16=6.25%

Example 1:

A number is increased by 7.14%.If the number is 4200.What will be its value after the increase

  When a number is increased by 7.14% it changes from 100% to 107.14 % ,

7.14%=1/14  ,This means 7.14*14=100%

So as a percentage it would be 100%+7.14%=107.14%

as fraction  

1/14 is increased which means from 14 parts 1 part is increased giving us 

14 parts+1 parts=15 parts/14 parts =107.14/100

So we get

On Cross multiplying we get(15*4200)/14

=4500

Example 2:

12.5 % Of a number is  250 . What is the number 

12.5%=1/8

1/8=250 which means 1 part out of 8 parts is 250 . What are 8 parts of the number 

8 parts of the number =250*8=2000

Example 3:

If 2/5th of a number is 200 what is 4 times of the number

2/5 =40%

4 times of the number means 4*100% of the number itself=400% 

so we get

Answer =2000.
