PERCENTAGE:
'Percentage' as a word stands for 'every hundred'.For example, 20%=20 out of 100.
Example 1:
If a student had scored 35 out of 50. What is his percentage?
This means the student's score is 35 out of 50 and for 100 it will be 70. So he has scored 70%.
Example 2:
40 % of a number is 100. Find the number?
as we know 40% of the number is 100 then they are asking for the number it means what is 100% of the number .
so as we know
40/100 of Number(n) =100, Then n=?
40/100*n=100
n=(100*100)/40=2500.
Alternate method:
Percentage Number
40 100
100 n
After this step just cross multiply the values to get to the answer.
We cross multiply because when the percentage increases from 40% to 100% naturally the value also tend to increase, vice versa happens when it decreases so we get
n=(100*100)/40=2500.
Example 3:
What is 35% of 1800
As per the concept, we know
Percentage Number
100 1800
35 n
Cross Multiply, We get
(35*1800)/100=630.
Example 4:
If 30% of a number is 540 . Find 55% of the other number.
Percentage Number
30 540
55 n
Cross Multiply, We get
(55*540)/30=990.
